Getting a handle on Payment Fees

Since the site launched, there have been a few payments taken that have gone through the Woopayments system and unfortunately this has not proved to be a good option for us, due to the higher than expected fees we are seeing.

For now at least, please AVOID the green ‘Buy Now’ button and instead, ‘add to cart’ and pay using your credit / debit card or use one of the quick pay options such as GPay.

These payments are then processed through our preferred processor ‘SquarePay’. I’ve used Square consistently now for 3 years or so, the fees are much more appropriate per transaction than what we saw using Woopayments.

5% of total paid just for a currency conversion is utter madness and that wasn’t all the fees either, it totalled 7% of total sale including shipping which is crazy. I don’t even want to work that out in profit percentage as I know I would be upset.

Please completely ignore the ‘Buy Now’ button for the immediate future and I will try to remove it – and either add to cart or use the GPay (or Apple Pay if you see that one).

Keeping prices as low as possible is our aim and we would certainly like to see this for the future.
